Our Distribution Centre
Our distribution centre is the heart of Feeding Isle of Wight’s operations. From here, we receive surplus food from national redistribution networks, local supermarkets, and generous community donations. We sort, store, and prepare these items for delivery to community pantries and projects across the island, helping reduce food waste and make nutritious food more accessible.
Cowes Community Pantry
The Cowes Community Pantry is a welcoming space where local residents can access affordable food while reducing waste. Stocked with a mix of fresh, frozen, and ambient goods from our distribution centre, the pantry offers a friendly, dignified way to stretch your budget and support the environment.

At Feeding Isle of Wight, our mission is to reduce food waste, fight food insecurity, and strengthen our community. Through our distribution centre and Cowes Community Pantry, we rescue surplus food, make it affordable and accessible, and ensure it reaches those who need it most. We believe everyone should have access to good food, shared with dignity, while caring for our island and its environment.
Every day, good food goes to waste — not because it’s bad, but because it’s surplus. We work with supermarkets, suppliers, and food redistribution networks to collect this perfectly edible food before it’s thrown away. Our team collects, sorts, and stores it at our distribution centre, ready to be shared with community pantries, projects, and local families. By collecting surplus food, we’re reducing waste, protecting the environment, and making sure good food feeds people, not landfill.Every day, good food goes to waste — not because it’s bad, but because it’s surplus. The Cowes Community Pantry is a friendly, welcoming space where local residents can choose from a wide selection of affordable food. Stocked with fresh, frozen, and cupboard essentials from our distribution centre, the pantry offers a dignified way to stretch your budget while helping reduce food waste.
For a small membership fee, you can shop each week for a set number of items, often worth far more than you pay. It’s a place to find good food, meet friendly faces, and be part of a community that cares for one another and our environment.
Our work wouldn’t be possible without our amazing volunteers. Whether you can spare an hour a week or a few days a month, there’s a place for you in our team. We have a mix of tasks to suit different skills and interests — from sorting and packing food at the distribution centre, to helping at the Cowes Community Pantry, collecting donations, making deliveries, or supporting events.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and make a real difference in your community. However you choose to help, you’ll be part of something that’s feeding our island and reducing waste.

Every tin, packet, or pound makes a difference. We gratefully accept donations of food, toiletries, and household essentials to help stock our community pantry and support those in need. Financial contributions are also welcome and help us cover running costs, collect surplus food, and purchase core items we can’t always source through donations.
Whether you give goods, money, or time, you’re helping reduce waste, fight hunger, and strengthen our island community.
